Hey y'all! My name is Ana Heinz and I am from Mississippi. I now reside in St.Louis, Missouri with my family. Hence my blog name. Mississippi Gone Missouri. At heart, I am just a simple country girl. I had to adjust to the big city life, but I am used to it now. However, I do miss listening to the night owls, the twinkling stars, and most of all my family. It has been hard living in a new city, let alone a totally different state. But I have found my center once again. Let me tell you why I am starting this blog. I have recently been getting all these messages via facebook from women, especially the mom group. They ask questions anywhere from how do I eat so clean, what kind of running shoes do I recommend, what do I eat, what do I cook..etc. Well let me start by saying, that I was never in this good of shape seven years ago. At age 20, I became pregnant and with that, I had the thought process of "Eat for 2." Bad Idea! I gained 55 pounds, had hypertension because of my poor diet, became toxemic, and was induced 3 weeks early because I tripped and fell on my belly. After all of this, I had a beautiful, healthy 4 lb. 15 oz. girl, McKenzie. Well one week later, I returned to school. I know right?! In one of my classes, the whole class had to take a
dexa scan. My major was Exercise Physiology, just in case you were wondering. It came time for me to go and I was nervous!! The results were not pretty. My professor explained to me that I was 50% body fat and had the bone density of a 50 year old woman. I was in terrible shape. I had a reality check at that moment. I made the decision to change my life, to be healthy!
A few weeks later, there was a kickboxing certification at my local gym and I signed up immediately! I became an instructor and taught for 2 years. But during this time, I became really addicted to cardio and to loosing weight. I would run on the treadmill 7 days a week and hardly ate food. I went from a size 14 to a size 2 by the time Mckenzie's one year birthday came around. I was making poor health decisions and I knew better. I had the knowledge to loose weight the right way, but I was too impatient to wait. One of my best friends, Kim, we decided to start training for a marathon. As I started to research the nutrition about running, I thought to myself that this was going to make me fat again because I had to eat. Well this marathon was a goal and to do the long runs I needed the fuel for the run. So I had no choice but to eat. As I got accustomed to running so did my diet. It completely changed. I started eating breakfast and eating a high carb dinner before my long run the next day. I felt healthy and I loved having energy, where as before, I was just blah! Several months went by and the marathon was here. I finished in 4:56:00. It was a bucket list and never again will I do a marathon. It was miserable. ha! I also dabbled in sprint triathlons and those were a blast. One day I was at the gym, I saw this beautiful, muscular woman walk by (Amy Rozier I am talking about you). I said to myself, I want to look like that! So, I went from running to something I have never done before, weight lifting. I fell in LOVE with it and I have never looked back. I did a few shows and then I took some time off. Between getting ready to move to STL and trying for a second kiddo, I didn't have time for it. Well we arrived in STL in October of 2011 and I joined Gold's gym and there I met a couple of good ladies, but Gold's kept messing my account up, so I left and went to club fitness. Months went by and I didn't have a job, no family.. I was kinda depressed. And that is hard to say because I am a happy person all the time. My friend Heather started working with this guy, Jamie. She started looking amazing, not that she didn't before, but I was amazed how her body started to transform. I told her I want this guys number. Called him and I have been with him since June 2013. He is, by far, the best coach I have ever had. I love to hear him talk because he is so knowledgeable about this sport and nutrition. Jamie and this team has brought me a lot of happiness and I love all of them. Hopefully, my story will keep getting better and better and help inspire others. And that is why I am starting this blog. I want to help make life easier for both stay at home moms and full time working moms. I have had the best of both worlds and I know how hard it is to have quiet time for those stay at home moms and I know how hard it is to get to the gym and get dinner on the table for those working moms. I am gonna post recipes, workouts, give advice.. you name it. I am here to help and to INSPIRE. Please share my site and I am excited to get this thing rolling.
